Enhancing discovery and accessible research pathways through metadata

From MARC records to AI-assisted indexing, metadata is the engine that drives discoverability and is vital to successful and accessible research pathways. This webinar in partnership with CHOICE offers an end-to-end look at how AM creates and enhances metadata for its primary source collections to connect diverse resources and content types with scholars.

We explore how catalogue records from libraries and archives are transformed to interact with online platforms and digital discovery pathways, the challenges and opportunities in supplying MARC and KBART data to library systems, and the role of subject vocabularies in balancing precision, inclusivity, and accessibility. We look at several case studies, including AI-assisted indexing, and consider the contribution of transcripts to the discoverability of multi-format primary source content.

Speakers:

  • Hannah Phillips, Associate Director for Editorial Production, AM
  • Gail Beadnell, Publishing Manager, Metadata and Discovery, AM
  • Jennifer Wedge, Metadata Manager, AM
