Towson University chooses Quartex digital publishing platform for university archives
Adam Matthew Digital is today pleased to announce that Towson University has become the latest institution to move their digital archives to the publisher’s Quartex platform.
The archives of Towson University, one of the US top 100 public universities, holds significant special collections as well as a range of historical university material including yearbooks and commencement programmes. Quartex will be used to publish and showcase this range of digital content which also include the university newspaper archives, as well as theses and dissertations.
The special collections held by the university, covering a range of content types, include The Baltimore Hebrew Institute Special Collections comprising artefacts, rare books, Jewish Culture Reconstruction books, course catalogues and syllabi, Holocaust survivor testimonies and Yizkor (memorial books), as well as the Historic Clothing Collection which includes articles of clothing dating back to the early- to mid- 1800s.
Another collection of interest is the Louis Rosenthal Miniature Sculpture Collection, consisting of miniature bronze sculptures with historical, mythological, biblical, satirical, or whimsical themes created by Louis Rosenthal.

Quartex meets all these needs we’ve found it really easy to use. The level of personalisation Quartex offers will allow us to create a site that looks and feels like Towson and the exhibition feature will help us expand our outreach.”

Quartex will also support further archival collections relating specifically to the history of the university including the Towson University Retired Faculty Association Oral History Project, as well as Towson and WWII.
