Ethnomusicology: Global Field Recordings project collaborator wins 2021 Librarian of the Year

Adam Matthew Digital is pleased to share the news that Maureen Russell, with whom we worked closely to publish Ethnomusicology: Global Field Recordings, has been named 2021 Librarian of the Year by Librarians Association of the University of California-Los Angeles.

Throughout our project collaboration, Maureen’s deep commitment to facilitating scholarship was always at the forefront of our encounters. Over decades, she has managed and protected an important collection of primary source material for researchers and we were honoured to play a part in realising her mission in increasing accessibility for a global audience.

The result of six years of close collaboration between Maureen, as head of cataloguing and archivist at the UCLA Ethnomusicology Archive, and Adam Matthew’s editorial team, the collection has now made thousands of hours of rare audio content available to researchers and students around the world - making a progressive contribution to the field of ethnomusicology and ethical standards around field recordings.
