Adam Matthew announces state-wide contract with TexShare Consortia

Today we announced a major new agreement with the Texas State Libraries and Archives Commission (TSLAC) to provide permanent access to two Adam Matthew online collections via the TexShare consortium.

The bid, announced by TSLAC in August 2013, was signed off September 26th. This is the first State-wide consortia deal for Adam Matthew since the company was purchased as a standalone subsidiary by the international publisher SAGE in October 2012. 

Supplying close to two thousand individual institutions across Texas, from K-12 to 4-year colleges, public libraries and community colleges, this new agreement provides unparalleled access to hundreds of thousands of pages of rare and unique materials for the study of American history, including much on Texas itself.

‘The American West’ - winner of a Choice ‘Outstanding Academic Title’ 2008 - and the recently published ‘American Indian Histories and Cultures’ make available materials sourced exclusively from the Newberry Library, Chicago (www.newberry.org): holder of some of the finest collections on American history in the world. 

From first encounters between European settlers and American Indians, to the portrayal of the ‘Wild West’ in popular American culture, these two, cross-searchable digital collections cover hundreds of years of history, literature, and social and visual culture.

Roll-out to all TexShare members began November 1st.
