The First World War wins Library Journal 'Best Reference'
Adam Matthew, today announced that The First World War Portal is the latest Adam Matthew collection to be awarded ‘Best Reference’ by Library Journal.
Each year, Library Journal evaluates over 8,000 books, e-books, audio books, videos/DVDs, databases, systems and websites, awarding the prestigious ‘Best Reference’ accolade to a select few. Featuring in Library Journal’s annual ‘Best Reference’ edition (1 March, 2014), the article summarises:
“Stunning in depth and range; this First World War portal will bring the Great War directly to the desktops of researchers ranging from high school students to the most advanced World War I scholar.”
Sourced from leading libraries and archives around the world, including the unique collections of the Hoover Institution (California), Bibliothek für Zeitgeschichte, Stuttgart, The National Archives (UK), the National Library of New Zealand, Cambridge University Library and National WWI Museum at Liberty Memorial, Kansas City the portal offers a truly international perspective of the Great War.

Adam Matthew is planning further additions to the digital portal, including Visual Perspectives and Narratives: a collection sourced exclusively from the Imperial War Museum, London, due for publication in the spring to coincide with the centenary in 2014.
