Adam Matthew Launches new digital collection, America in World War Two: Oral Histories and Personal Accounts

Adam Matthew, a market-leader in the digital publication of unique primary source collections, has today launched a new resource, ‘America in World War Two: Oral Histories and Personal Accounts’.

The new collection offers insight into how WWII changed American society, the economy and its lasting impact on individuals and families.

Drawn from The National WWII Museum, New Orleans, and carefully curated by Adam Matthew’s team of editors and academic advisors, the collection includes a wealth of primary sources, from photos and notebooks to personal accounts and artefacts.

Particularly striking within the collection are the hundreds of video recordings of individual testimonies offering invaluable insight and demonstrating a range of personal experiences. From a veteran of the famous 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division, to survivors of concentration camps and members of the Women’s Army Corps, these personal stories add a new level of understanding to one of the biggest events in human history.

“The collection focuses on the experience of the individual, the men and women who lived and died in those momentous days. Hats off to Adam Matthew for curating, digitising and providing this rich resource to the widest possible audience.”
Rob Citino, PhD, Executive Director of the Institute for the Study of War and Democracy, The National WWII Museum

“I am thrilled that these oral histories and personal accounts have been digitised so that scholars and teachers around the world can make use of these exceptional primary resources.”
Judy Barrett Litoff, PhD., Professor of History, Bryant University
