Major American West Resource Updated

Adam Matthew is pleased to announce the launch of the update to its American West resource.
American West – a resource sourced from the Everett D. Graff collection of Western Americana at the Newberry Library, Chicago – was released in 2008, enabling research into the development of the American West and offering fascinating insights into overland travel, wagon trails, railroads, Native Americans, western fiction and the ‘wild west’. The new-look site showcases the same unique documents with additional functionality and supporting content.

The printed books, historical maps, journals, periodicals, posters, photographs, artwork and other rare material from the Graff collection can be viewed in a new interface with enhanced searchability and clearer results to make key terms, names and themes more easy to find.
Enhanced features of the updated site include:

  • Visual galleries grouping original maps, photographs and artwork of the collection into themed sections for easy browsing
  • A new data maps interface with a more intuitive platform for dynamic visualisations of key events and epochs

  • New editorial content such as thematic areas to guide users to the documents via new pathways

  • Additional in-depth indexing of documents and visual material making more metadata available

Institutions with access to American West will be able to view the full updated site immediately. For further information and pricing details please contact us.
