How do I register for a free trial?
Please complete the
online trials
form and ensure that you tick either IP or password trial. A member of the Adam Matthew Digital staff will be notified of your request and will send access details via email.
What is the difference between an IP and password trial?
A majority of requests for free trials will receive a username and password to access the resource. Once you have registered for a free trial, the username and password details are emailed to you along with the resouorce URL. When you click on the URL you will be prompted to enter the username and password allocated to you. These password details may be shared among faculty members to trial within a classroom, or private setting.
University Librarians, however, are more likely to request an IP trial (Internet Protocol - the numerical 'address' of your computer). When a registered user clicks on the resource URL, our authentication system checks that particular IP address is registered and allows access directly into the resource.
How do I log-in to my trial?
There are two options to access trials:
(1) Go directly to the resource URL where you will either be prompted to enter your username and password, or where you will access the resource automatically if you have registered your IP.
(2) There are
trial log-in
access points throughout this website. Simply select the resource from the drop-down list; choose either the password or IP access button; complete the password details if appropriate and click 'log-in'.
How do I find my IP address?
Adam Matthew Digital has
trial log-in
access points throughout our website; by selecting the IP button your computer's IP address will automatically appear.
However, iIn order to enable access across a whole department or institution, the collective IP range will be required. Your institution's IT administrator or electronic resources librarian should be able to help you.
Can anyone register for a free trial?
We recommend that students and researchers contact their head of department, course tutor or librarian to arrange a trial of our resources. Unfortunately, we cannot give trials to individual students or for individual research purposes.
I've received my password and it doesn't work.
Please ensure that you have entered the username and password exactly as they were sent to you, i.e. all caps and lower-case characters should be entered as listed. If a problem still persists, please
contact us
and we will re-issue an alternative combination.
The IP trial is unauthorised on my computer.
Please ensure that you have given us the full range of IP addresses on which the resource is to be made available.
How long do trials last?
Standard free trials are available for a four-week period. We do, on occasion, extend this period to cover specific teaching needs and will be happy to discuss extensions on request.
How will I know how well the trial has been used?
Basic trial usage statistics can be generated on request for all IP trials. Please ensure that you tell us you require statistics as soon as we have confirmed your trial is available for use.
What happens when the trial ends?
Before the four-week period is complete, we will ask for your comments and feedback. Please feel free to contact us at any time during the trial period, particularly if you are experiencing difficulty with the resource.
At the end of the trial period, access will be de-activated and any password or IP access information deleted. Should you wish to purchase the resource, we may allow the trial to remain open while the licence agreements are signed and returned.
